Lake District Tweed – has its own online shop now.
Lake District Tweed – Sustainably Hefted Cloth is a new initiative to connect the history and culture of wool production in the Lake District with contemporary Lakeland farming through the creation of thirteen distinctive Lake District valley tweeds. The tweed will be made with the wool from farms located around the main Lake District valleys and the designs will be a reflection of some of the aspects of each valley that make them unique and special. The project has been part funded by FIPL (Farming in Protected Landscapes) and a Kickstarter campaign.
The tweeds were designed by the Lancs & Lakes Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.
Woven Textile Designer Louise Dixon worked with the Guild to translate their designs for the commercial weaving mill.
